It's reported that 74% of Latino students enrolled in colleges and universities in the U.S. cut their education short due to the financial pressures of supporting their families. We want to make sure all students who start college, finish college by providing scholarships directly to the students when they need it most. Our annual national scholarship program for undergraduate and graduate Latino students awards grants ranging from $500 to $2,000 per recipient to lessen the financial burden.
The Spring 2024 National Scholarship will be awarded at a value of $1,000 on a competitive basis to five undergraduate and graduate students who meet specific criteria and abide by a set of requirements. Of the five national scholarships, two will be awarded to students with permanent residence in New York State regardless of their college or university enrollment in the U.S.
The Gay Latino Collective (GLC) Mateo Gomez Memorial Scholarship will be awarded at a value of $1,000 to one undergraduate student who identifies as LGBTQ+, has a plan to study abroad, and opts to be considered for the scholarship. All of the eligibility criteria and requirements must be met and candidates must answer one additional essay question. Graduate school students are not eligible for the GLC Mateo Gomez Memorial Scholarship.
